Defold: Read the Version the Editor Already Shows

This chapter finds the version string that is already on screen. The next chapter records it only when it starts with 1.14, and only on a lab project.

Why this matters now

Defold 1.14.0 was released on October 12, 2026. The shipping project should stay on the editor that already built it until you have copied a 1.14 string from a lab project.

You will do: look at the version the editor is already showing.

Time: about 5 minutes.

Prerequisites

 • The Defold editor
 • A lab project that is not the project you ship

Read the string

 • Open the lab project.
 • Copy the version string from the window title, or from whatever version line is already visible. Do not hunt for a menu name this page did not give you.
 • If no version string is visible, stop.
 • Leave the shipping project closed.

Check: you have a version string, or you stopped because none was on screen.

Where to go next

 • The 1.14 check: One version string on a lab project
 • The release: Defold 1.14.0

Read the version that is already visible. Do not open the shipping project to compare.
