Roblox Studio: Open a Place and Find Beta Features

This chapter is the first Studio step before any October 2026 beta. File → Beta Features is where Upgraded UIShadow and other Studio-only tools are switched on. The next chapter uses that menu. This one only gets you to a place you are allowed to edit.

Why this matters now

October 2026 Studio betas ship behind a checkbox and a restart. Enabling one on the experience you already published is how a test setting reaches players. Open Studio, confirm which place is on screen, and learn the File menu before you touch a beta.

You will do: start Studio, open or create a place, and find Beta Features.

Time: about 8 minutes.

Prerequisites

 • A Roblox account that can open Roblox Studio
 • Studio installed and signed in
 • No beta toggles yet

Open Studio

 • Launch Roblox Studio.
 • On the start page, choose New and pick the Baseplate template, or open a place you already own that is not your live game.
 • Wait until the viewport and the Explorer panel are both visible.

Check: the place name in the title bar is the one you just opened, not a teammate’s live experience.

Find File → Beta Features

 • Click File in the top menu.
 • Click Beta Features.
 • Read the list. Do not enable anything in this chapter.
 • Close the dialog with Cancel or the close control so you do not save a toggle by accident.

Check: you can open that dialog again without guessing. The Oct 12–18 weekly recap is where Roblox lists which betas went out that week. The dialog is where you turn one on.

Common mistakes

 • Editing the published live place because it was the most recent file.
 • Enabling every beta in the list “to see what’s new.”
 • Closing Studio from the beta dialog with Save when you only meant to look.

Where to go next

 • One text shadow on a copy: UIShadow beta — one text shadow on a copy place
 • What the beta announced: Upgraded UIShadow capabilities

---

Beta Features is a switch, not a publish button. Open a place you can throw away, find the dialog, and leave every checkbox as you found it until the next chapter.
